The fiction industry is a fiercely competitive, brutal business to break into. The Sandy is a writing contest designed to prepare authors for the submission process. It is a competition, not a writing class or a critique service. While helpful to all writers, The Sandy is intended to best aid those most experienced authors who have already taken writing classes and many workshops, who have mastered the craft elements and are ready to get their work in front of agents and editors. It is in that spirit of competition and transparency that we make these rankings available. It is totally anonymous. Nobody but the coordinator has a list of the work's title, assigned number, and author - so no feelings should be hurt. I hope this is helpful to all.
